Hi,

I think the family are still in Peter Street in 1851, transcribed as CLANCA at Ancestry and CLANES at FindMyPast,

1851  HO107/1479  f.360  p.23  Westminster St John the Evangelist,
36 Peter Street

James CLAN??    Head    62    Labourer            Limerick, Ireland
Ellen        "  "          Wife    58                               Co? Tipperary
William    "  "          Son    20          "  "                 Limerick
Daniel MULLINS          Visitor  Mar 35 Labourer      "  "
Margaret HANDRIE?   Visitor  Unm  28  Servant     "  "

I wonder if he was born in Ireland then moved to London?

Regards,
Daisy

Thanks for the response Daisy.  Williams dad James was born in Ireland but William was born in St Johns (according to the 1941 and later census's???) but this is definitely the right family, as it were.  The Mullins are the witnesses at Williams wedding 7 years later.  What a fantastic find.  Many thanks for finding this.  Don't suppose you can magic out his death date?? William was married off by the 1861 census and I lose trace of his parents.  James is not stated as deceased on the Marriage cert of 1858.  Sorry, I know I am taking the mick a little with the request.

Many thanks for your help.

Stephen

A possible death for James,

James CLANCY
Dec Q 1858    Westminster St Margaret    1a  198
Age at death:  74

He seems too old but James does seem to age at a peculiar rate :)

1841  -  42
1851  -  62
death 1858?  -  74

Maybe the informant on his death certificate didn't know how old he was, especially if Ellen had already died,

Ellen CLANSEY    Mar Q 1857    Westminster St Margaret   1a  183
Age at death:  66
