Robert Reeve - Residence Note
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 07:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
Can someone please try to decipher this residence note?
It says Pittville Circus, which is now a road in Cheltenham, I'm wondering what the other word/s are.
Thanks, Jamie

There are a number of references online to Vallombrosa Boys' Preparatory Boarding School in Cheltenham. Looks like a borrowed Italian name, but I haven't looked into its origins.

CHELTENHAM AND GLOUCESTERSHIRE DIRECTORY 1864.

Detached houses

(Most likely house name)  Vallambrosa,  Circus Road, Cheltenham ( Likely on the round about houses )

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thanks, dobfarm, I didn't know books like this were available on Google. I'll be using it more often.

Allsorts come up on google books. Good for trade directories but again some unexpected stuff - its a pot luck dip. A lot depends how you word your enquiry in the search box.
