FROST Manslaughter case July 1852 Wisbech
« on: Friday 12 January 18 12:31 GMT (UK) »
I have found details in the British Newspaper Archive of a manslaughter case against Uriah and Jeremiah FROST in July 1852. I know that they were both charged and the Bill was Ignored.
Can anyone tell me if Ignored means dropped?

Many thanks

Is he the Uriah who appears in 1861 census as a 25 yr old patient in Greenwich workhouse, a seaman, then in 1871 as 35 yr old MAriner in Wales with wife Fanny (born Wisbech on both)?

If so, it looks as if it was dropped, or if there was any sentence it was minimal.

Looks like that is him, as Uriah and Jeremiah are 15 yr old twins on 1851.

Thank you. Yes that’s him. The case involved a yound friend who drowned. It sounded like boys and high jinks. Ironically Uriah drowned in Barry in 1983.

It was just the word “Ignored” that I wondered about.

Many thanks.

FindMyPast has a prison record for Uriah and Jeremiah that simply reads -

Offence Column = manslaughter
Aquitted and Discharged Column = No Bill
