I am looking for Mary Gibson (maiden Taylor) Father and Mothers death dates.  James Taylor and Christian ( maiden Galbraith)  married on 21 Aug 1802 so probably born sometime in 1782 Mary was born and recorded in the Parish of BoNess.  Other than that, that is all that I have.  Any help would be appreciated.  Scotlands people have no death records for Mary's Parents.  Thank you.

I see them in the 1841 Census at North street, Borrowstouness with daughter Jane but no death dates as yet.

Thank you very much.  I was subscribed to Ancestry, but there was a mix up on my lineage so I have to redo some of my family tree, and can't afford ancestry right now.  Again thank you.

Not sure if you have other siblings to Mary?

Did you notice on a/try member trees that there is one that has a daughter for James and Christina, called also Christina who married a Henry Marshall. There are births to a Marshall couple with these names in Abercorn, West Lothian in the 1830s but can't easily see the family in the 1841 census. Their marriage/banns show in 1829 in Abercorn.

There is also other daughters showing on the OPRs for births & christenings on SP. These below are all in Bo'ness:

Christina 1803...first born after the parents' marriage?
Mary 1808...your line
Janet 1810
Jane 1816
Jamima 1820

Given gaps, likely other children.

Please do not rely on the transcriptions on Ancestry or any other subscription site.

The only place to view the actual Scottish Records is at Scotlands People. You register and buy a block of credits to view the original entries. Very reasonably priced.

Official registration of birth, marriages and deaths only became compulsory in Scotland in 1855 prior to that it was the Parish Registers.

Have you discounted the OPR death in 1843 for a 66 yr old James Taylor in Bo'ness? I am not familiar with the Bo'ness parish records so not sure how much detail may be contained on the register entry that may help. Pre 1855, those parish register entries that you are lucky to find often are no more than one liners with little detail

1851 has this entry:

James Tailor 66 b. Bo'ness
Mary Mcnaughton 9 grandchild b. Bo'ness

Thank you, for this information.  I will check this out. Not sure about the Christina and Henry Marshall thing. I do think that it was probably James who did die in 1843.  I know it probably does not list anything to who his parents were, so hate to waste my last 10 credits on something that will hold not other information that what is already listed.  Thanks again
