Newton Bernard's obituary is in the Lethbridge Herald, June 19 1941.

Headline is "Chief Accountant of Liquor Board Dies".  Bernard Guthrie of Edmonton, 46, chief accountant of the Alberta Liquor Control Board for the past 11 years died in hospital following a major operation.  Mr Guthrie had been employed by the control board for the past 17 years.  Born in Scotland, Mr Guthrie was a veteran of the First Great War.  He is survived by his widow and one son.

Unfortunately, the obituary doesn't name the son.  (but you posted his name earlier... it appears to be in Newton Bernard's military record)

Looking for Bernard Guthrie/Faye etc on the 1921 Canada census.

Strange - there is a Bernard Guthrie, roomer, 26, born Scotland, came to Canada in 1911, book-keeper for the government.  Census says he is single ???

Thanks RK - Great finds. Your a "wee star" -  CWGC require quite a close relative - so was hoping to find the son "B" and perhaps his children.

Thanks
Sandra  ;)

Sorry forgot to say there was a marriage of a Newton B Guthrie 1924 Edmonton to Margaret M Collins. So did he remarry ?

I know this is nearly 3 years later but I was searching for my first cousin 3 times removed, Lilias Clarinda Mabel Bennie, and found this thread. Thomas Guthrie is my second cousin twice removed, through his mother, also my first cousin 3 times removed, Isabella Johnston Bennie. I don’t have any documentation though except for my family tree. Am I too late? Or is this any help?
