Can you help me untangle my Thurlbourn lineage plaese ?
« on: Monday 15 January 18 18:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have a John Thurlbourn who married a Phoebe Hart In Harston in June 1740, thei children were all born in Chesterton and wife Phoebe was born in Little Wilbraham.

When I did my tree some 15 years ago we did not nave the online resources we have now and rather than tell you where i went wrong, I would be most interested to see if you come up with the same possibility I have. There is a problem that there are many spellings of this name which get worse as you go further back, they include Thurlbourne, Thurlbourn Thurlborn thutlborne.

Hope you like a challenge.

Many thanks

David

Sorry if I'm being a bit dense but what exactly are you after regarding this family? D0 you want confirmation of what you have already found or are you looking for something else?

Hi Emelton

I originally had this man as the son of Richard Manfield and Elizabeth Pratt, but i now think he was born in Grantchester in 1715 son of William Manfield and Eleanor Parker, but I dont want to compound my possible previous error and I am looking for confirmation that I am now on the right track.

Many thanks

David

Your post is somewhat puzzling!
FindMyPast has a transcribed baptism for John Thurlbourn, 6 Nov 1715, place Granchester, parents William and Elisabeth.

Not clear where William Manfield and Eleanor Parker fit in.

Who exactly are you referring to when you say "I originally had this man ...."

If this man, as you say, is John Thurlbourn then where does the surname Manfield fit in all of this. You need to be clear and precise in what you tell us or we'll all go off at a tangent looking for the wrong people.

Hi Sorry

I have now realised I was trying to look at 2 almost identical problems in my family tree and got myself in a real pickle put it down to my advanced age I was 76 last wwek.  This particlar enquiyr is regarding John Thurlbourn and I originally had hs parents as Richard Thurlbourn and Elizabeth Pratt which i now think is wrong and th i hope that it is the John Thurlbourn baptsied in Grantchestr in 175 son of William and Elizabeth.

My incere apologies

David

Hi, as I read it you want us to treat John Thurlbourn who married Phoebe Hart in Harston in June 1740 as the farthest back you have been able to get with John Thurlbourn and to see if we can come up with his parents.  You don't know where he originated but you know Phoebe came from Little Wilbraham (how?) and their children were baptised in Chesterton.

Is this it?

Pheno

Posted this whilst you were clarifying your post but is this the quest?
