Translation help for 1665 document written in Scots
« on: Tuesday 16 January 18 15:45 GMT (UK) »
I've downloaded another document from 1665 regarding a birth and it's appears to be written in Scots. Seeking for translation of entry for John Hog and others. Please PM with email address and send along. Thank you.

It would be better if you put a clipped copy of it on here

I'm not clipping a copy due to copyright issues and since I don't know which entry is which, I'd have to post the entire document and not just the entry in question.  :(

It's the third entry down.

                                       5 Decr 1665
   Hog        Rot Hog & Mary Flackfeild a L. son John Witnesses John
                 Flackfeild elr & Rot Hog elr

John Flackield, Mary's father, is described as "elr" (= elder), so Mary must have a brother called John.

The other witness, Robert Hog elder, is presumably the other grandfather.

L. = Lawful, i.e. legitimate

Hi Ohio,

Please crop the image to just the part that you wish to study, if it is multiple parts of document you can post them as part a, part b etc
