Illegitimate English/American War children
« on: Friday 05 August 05 00:26 BST (UK) »
Hello There, :D
I have been asked, a difficult question.........
There is a lady,(a) I know, she was born in England, her mother(b) as well.
(a)'s grandmother had a disability, and being in her 30's, thought, that this was the last chance she would have to become a mother.
It was 1943, and was being pursued, by an American Soldier. (a very wealthy one at that).
She had (b)...... 1944, and consequently, was thrown out of her family.
She brought up her baby alone.
(b)'s birth certificate, doesn't mention the fathers name.
although, (b) does know who her father is/or was......
He would send money over to England and Birthday presents.

But (b) won't tell, (a) his name.......
(a) was wondering if there was a Government office to contact, to ask about child support, to war mothers.
Not really knowing if this indeed, did happen.
But if he did go through the right channels.
Who would I contact.
I know  (b)'s name and her mothers name, but not the soldiers name....

Thanks,
kenjo

Kenjo! ::) ::) ::)

Why do you do this ..... :P what was the question again?
You want to know the name of an American soldier?
I think it is too recent - and the privacy act and all that!
and if the mother doesn't want to tell -  you have to respect her wishes!!
I don't think there is too much you can do - short of hiring a private detective..... ::)

Sorry, for exhasting you, again. :-[

Did the American Government pay child suport to English mothers of Illegitimate children.
and if so, who do I contact.?

That was a good read, I had no idea!
German women, really did have desperate times after the war.
By the way Annie, I love the photos too, (oh my goodness)
Thanks for trying to help.
