You are wonderful! Thank you so much. That's sent me down another new line. I did think His Father was John, if so it is possible he was illegitimate. I now know where the name Gilbert came from and it has solved the discrepancy with Jane's name.

Hi Colin, I think you maybe right about Thomas being born in Ninebanks. I thought it was a bit early but on his marriage record it says he was born in 1816 so it is probable.
