Caroline Barclay dies in Brecon days after getting married in 1873 ?
« on: Friday 19 January 18 09:02 GMT (UK) »
The South Wales Daily News of 28th August  and the Cardiff Times of 30th August 1873 give the same sad news. "  That James Williams, Coroner ,held an inquest on Tuesday last on the body of Caroline Barclay at the Rose and Crown Inn. Deceased was the wife of John Vaughan Barclay, of the Brecknockshire Militia Band. Sad to relate the deceased had only been married on the 18th instant. The Inquest was adjourned till Wednesday, in order that a post mortem examination might be made"
Then I can find no more apart from a burial record of Caroline Barclay , abode Llanfaes buried 27th August ,  age 22, at St David's Brecon.
I can find no entry of marriage on the GRO. No mention of a  Brecknockshire marriage on FindMyPast, and absolutely no mention of her husband JOHN VAUGHAN BARCLAY anywhere .As I have no marriage to check the maiden name of Caroline I am stumped on her roots and also no newspaper report of the post mortem.
Can the readers of this page please help ?

It's on FindMyPast too - you need to check the 'name variants' box  :)

Thanks Jen ...I honestly did......That is another spelling of Barclay to add to the list.
The Barclay family at Cadoxton Neath have curates and vicars spelling the name  SEVEN different ways  !!!!!!

This Barclay family is the root family to most if not all in South Wales.

Thanks again Jen
