Peter Parker Gunner HMS Prince 1785_1857 - help with handwriting
« on: Sunday 21 January 18 15:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

My 3rd Gt Grandfather was, I believe, Gunner on HMS Prince. Ive managed to find the attached papers, but can't read more than the names and possibly the address (Aylward St., Portsea). Can anyone read any more or find any further info on Peter.

Thanks very much
Adrian

Here are a few tentative suggestions:

1 May 57            DD 14 April 1857
L 1. 3. 0           per Medical C?
(arrear of Pension)

Peter Parker
(Gunner on Pension List)

Mary Parker Widow

[address]

No 2 [?] as to Agent              1 May 57
No 7 To remit [?] [?]             4 May 57
8 + 8 = Dec [?]                   25 July 57
Audit officer                     27 July 57
No 10 [?] Marriage Certificate    27 July 57

It looks like it is at least in part about the widow proving she was his wife in order to receive the arrears of his pension.

ADDED:

C19th military records aren't at all my area, but I have a general sense that there could/should be more detailed and personal service records available.

Maybe ask on the Armed Forces board?
