Divorce or Legal Separation in Philadelphia in 1876

Hello All,
Sarah Ross (nee Thompson) from Monaghan, Ireland, and John G Ross from England were living in Philadelphia in the 1860s' and 1870's. There were two daughters that I am sure about because I have found their birth registrations, and they came to New Zealand with their mother. I am sure there were sons, but have not yet found their birth registrations.
In 1889 Sarah Ross (nee Thompson) married in New Zealand. As proof that she was free to marry she has written Living under Deed of Legal Separation Executed in Philadelphia in 1876.
Am I able to find out more about this deed?

I presume you have the 1860/1870 US Census for John and Sarah?

Its on Familsearch.Org and they do have 1 Son;

1870 Census
John G Ross      M   39   England
Sarah Ross      F   36   Ireland
Joseph F Ross      M   9   Pennsylvania
Bessie E Ross      F   2   Pennsylvania

It seems that there is nothing on line, and at this stage I do not want to start correspondence.

Joseph F Ross did not come to New Zealand with his mother and two sisters. I was hoping that the separation/divorce might explain what happened to the children.
But you have reminded me to find his birth registration. And then of course, I should try to find him in the 1880 census.
