Tas Archives

https://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/

Just search for 'Fortitude' and then narrow to arrivals and 1855.

Click on the first passenger name (should be William ACKERLEY)

Choose "Book 5" from the left hand menu

James Bright, brickmaker is listed here as arrived in Adelaide on the Fortitude February 1 1855.
http://passengersinhistory.sa.gov.au/voyage-passengers-all/942331/01/11/1854%20-%2002/02/1855

A list of at least some of the passengers who disembarked at Adelaide, including a Bright here:
1855 'SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE. ARRIVED.', Adelaide Observer (SA : 1843 - 1904), 3 February, p. 4. , viewed 23 Jan 2018, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article158101974

The Tasmanian passenger list seems to only have details of the emigrants who arrived there, maybe someone else can dig out details for those that hopped off at Adelaide?

Thank for all that info, yeah i noticed that when i looked at the passenger list from hobart.  I thought he may have been on it but highlighted that the passenger got of in Port Adelaide.
I would imagine that there is a hard copy of the list somewhere.

Mention of a "James Bright, brickmaker, Gawler" here:

No, I don't think so.  Passenger list survival is not all that great for SA.
