The Kings Liverpool Regiment knew him as Private Patrick Marshall 12103. He was later in the Labour Corps, service number 519348 and/or 578487 (the records are confusing on this point). There are two cross-referenced medal index cards for him, one as Marshall (noted that his correct surname for stamping is Marsdon), and one as Marsdon.

Hi, the medals look to be the first world war trio, the other one I'm not sure about, I thought it was a South Africa medal and bars but could well be wrong.

Agree with Frank King's SA Medal with clasps + Pip, Squeak & Wilfred.
Pip (14-15 Star) means he went into a theatre of war during those years.
His date of entry is given as 26/9/15.
There's just 1 Batt. of the KLR that landed in France (27/9/15) & that's the 13th. Service Batt.
Probably transferred to the Lab. Corps in 1917 on it's formation.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I don't think it is QSA, I think it is the India General Service Medal - George V 1911 - 25 version; note the raised inscription around the edge. Also the ribbon isn't quite right. IMHO.

The three bars are probably from the five issued between 1919 and 1924, the 1925 clasp was only issued to RAF personel. This could indicate that he was still serving after 1920, in which case his records will still be with the MOD.

To be honest I think the suspender is the wrong shape for the India General Service Medal.

See attached links.

Welcome to Rootschat by the way  :)

You're right, the hanger is wrong for IGSM, but I'm still puzzled by the raised inscription, it isn't on the QSAM.

Could we get a higher res. clip of just the medals and ribbons?

Thanks for the welcome.

It definitely isn't the KSAM, the ribbon is totally wrong.

I did orginally consider the Natal Native Rebellion Medal, but that was not issued to British units and only one clasp was awarded.

I tried to enlarge and clip the photograph but it becomes to pixelated to make out so no go with that at the moment I'm afraid.

ALAMO2008, is it possible to get a larger shot of the medals for clarity?  :)
