Oh dear! that looks about right.(Illegitimate)
Thanks for all your quick replies (I don't know how you do it!!?)
I saw the Census where she was down as Niece and that started me wondering as it didn't make sense in my other findings.

Don't worry - it all makes Family History more interesting! Now you can set about finding out as much as you can about the (shy) dad's family, can't you?
There are many puzzling / interesting tales in most people's family history, and we all anjoy chasing them around.
Happy hunting!
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

Occasionally the father's name is missing when he has died.  Also look out for illegitimate persons inventing a name and people who's father died when they were young making mistakes over his name.  Sorry to make it sound complicated but you need to be aware.
