Who was present at death?

Sarah what? Can't quite make it out. Also, who could she be? I've never heard of her so why would she be present. Thanks

Sarah Cowen.   She could have been a neighbour or friend

Corven  :-\  As he died of Typhus fever, I would hazard a guess that the place of death was a hospital, and she was, perhaps, a nurse.  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

He died at 21 Flag Lane Sunderland

So if she was the informant, she would not be a nurse? Or did nurses go to their houses?

I would doubt it was a nurse.  Maybe just someone in the community that visited the sick  :-\

My apologies, I didn't see the place of death - I assumed she was a nurse, because of the cause of death  :-[  Wrong again  :-X

For the week ending Aug 31st 1878
Registration Sub districts - Typhus and Typhoid Fevers
Sund. West 1; Bpwth N 1; Monkwth 1
Borough Total - 3

The deaths from fever took place in Flag Lane, Sunderland, Hopper Street, Bishopwearmouth and in the Infirmary

There's a Sarah Corwen, Alfred Street on the 1881 Census.
