The informant needn't necessarily have been a nurse - more likely a neighbour or friend

Corven    As he died of Typhus fever, I would hazard a guess that the place of death was a hospital, and she was, perhaps, a nurse. 

Nevertheless it was a very interesting guess, I would never had thought of that

Sunderland Fever Hospital Dunning Street, also known as the Corporation House of Recovery.
The hospital was opened in 1871 as an emergency in response to the small-pox epidemic of that year. It consisted of an old mansion (Dunning House) standing in its own grounds, separated on the north side from the bank of the river by Dock Street, which was later renamed Gill Road. The entrance was via Dunning Street. There were six wards, with a total of twenty two beds.
 After the epidemic the hospital was disused, and became somewhat dilapidated. After the hospital closed cases of infectious diseases among the non -pauper population were sent to the workhouse, where there were two buildings suited for the reception of such cases. However this arrangement between the Guardians and the Town Council was ended in 1877 and the Fever Hospital was re-opened in March of that year. From July 1879 the Sunderland General Infirmary refused to admit cases of infectious fever, which were sent to the Borough Fever Hospital. The Sunderland Borough Fever Hospital, on Hylton Road was opened in 1890, and the old hospital, closed. The site was secured by the Corporation for the first electricity generating station in the borough, which commenced supplying current in March 1895.

So, given the address of the informant, do you think she was some sort of attendant sent out from the Fever Hospital?

If he died of Typhus fever I'm surprised  he died at 21 Flag Lane, perhaps he was discharged to die at home. If the informant can be found in the census, it could give her occupation.
