I am unsure if the Giese family went looking for her, Wivenhoe..........the family, it appears, was fairly fractured, and not much information on personal matters was known.

I am fascinated that he chose to call himself by his mothers maiden name. That level of covering up, I am wondering if she ever got a divorce. I can't find one in NSW.
I will suggest that my friend gets this second marriage certificate to see if Josephine married as a divorced or single woman.

The one thing that seems to be hanging (and I haven't seemed to have found) is a grave photo.......any thoughts?

I personally am intriguedby this.

Josephine seemed to have a baby in NSW every year of her married time with GEISE.

Alfred ROPER/HOWARD seems never to have left northern Qld (according to electoral rolls) except for being away at the war.

So how did Josephine leave the young family and find her way to McKay?

What did she do to support herself and where did she lodge?

She seemed to have up and left the family in a hurry......but I am equally as intrigued as to how she managed to leave, travel, find somewhere to stay and support herself.

There does seem to be some Ruane families in Queensland, so I wonder of she took herself off to one of them and then met Mr Roper.

I was just looking at that and calculating the distance from Merinda to Mackay.........and it was just a year before she remarried.

What took her all that way, I wonder!

In 1925 Alfred HOWARD was at Forth Street, McKay.
A painter.

That's a fair distance to be commuting for love.......especially in those days........I am intrigued as to how they came together!
