Taunton Parish Register Check 1737/1738
« on: Thursday 25 January 18 22:18 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone able to check the date of a christening in Taunton (St Mary Magdalen) for me?

I am trying to confirm the date of christening of John Dyke son of John and Sarah Dyke but have two different dates.

According to Familysearch the christening took place on 21 April 1737, however according to the details on the FreeReg website the christening was on 24 Jan 1737/38.

Can someone double check this and let me know which is the correct one?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt

Somerset Heritage Centre are gradually putting some BMD records on Ancestry and the baptism for John Dyke is pictured on that web site and as Ian said, 24 Jan 1737/1738 is correct. It is great being able to check the records without having to travel to Taunton.
