Adoption Records
« on: Friday 26 January 18 09:51 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if it is possible to access adoption records and if so how?  I have ancestors who adopted a girl between 1907-1911.  She is listed on the 1911 census aged 4.
Thank you

There was no formal adoption until 1927.
Anything else would be a private arrangement. so no adoption records exist for that era

If you know her birth date you might find her listed on 1939 register, might be long winded as she might well have married

Thank you for your replies.  Disappointing no formal records exist.
