Hi all, I know this subject has cropped up many times, but as I for one stay "Logged in" to RootsChat, does it automatically mean I am viewing something on a thread?

How could it possibly mean that you have seen every post on every thread?  There must be tens of thousands of topics you never opened at all.

I have two current threads ( and many previous), where I have carried out extensive research it would "appear" that my handywork has been viewed, just wanted to know if this was fact?

There's really no way to tell if someone else has read any particular thread unless they've posted a comment. The only thing you can really check is when they last logged in.

OK can go with that, so at some stage the ones I know "Logged in" but did not reply to their own thread.
