Hi,

I wonder if anybody can tell me how to obtain info on the comendation below, T.G.Kersley was my grandfather
Ethell in Yorkshire & Kent
Gamble in Hemsley & York
Kersley In Sheffield & Winchester
Roberts in Llanwrst & Sheffield
Lill in Boston

if i have the right man,then you will need to check the gallantry medal rolls,because this bloke was decorated for gallant conduct,i think he won the military medal,mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

Yes thats the one, are the Gallantry medal rolls different to the normal medal rolls.

If he was awarded the military medal or a higher decoration then he should be listed in the London Gazette.  See their online archive:

Hi,

Further to my reply earlier, I have also now found his elder brother on the London Gazette dated 28 Oct 1918 under Rifle Brigade "Temp. 2nd Lt  F.J.Kersley to be temp Lt 26 Oct 1918.

Any info on him would be appreciated.

kevin,i have checked for Lt frederick,james kersley in the artist rifles officer training corps,the inns of court officer training corps and the london univ officer training corps,he didnt pass through any of these,i also checked cambridge univ,he didnt attend the university,was his parents james+elizabeth from ecclesall in sheffield,mac
ps he was commissioned into the rifle brigade as a 2/Lt,then promoted to Lt
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

Hi Mack,

Yes his parents were James & Elizabeth, it is known that in 1900 he was a L/Cpl in the K.O.Y.L.I. when he got married, but is not found on the 1901 census only his wife living in Pontefract.

The father is the person from my earlier post on Obtaining Old Medals.
