I have known occasions where the father was deceased but it wasn't put on the marriage certificate. If no one tells the Vicar that the father is dead he'll presume that he is alive.

Hi,

I am writing a book on the Brittons.  Robert was buried at Bitton on 21st March 1841 aged 61. and his wife Nancy on 20/2/1848.
