Can anybody help me to understand the last line of handwriting on this military form which I have attached.

Thanks

My guess is that it is an entry made some time after discharge with a reference number first then "increased to 2 shillings 5 pence halfpenny/Militia service" then a date and signature which could refer to his pension (which we don't know) being increased because he went on to serve, probably part time, with the militia.
There are other pension records for him at the National Archives in WO 116 and he probably is in WO 120/40.  The former is on Ancestry in the "extra sub" Fold element which may have a clue.

Many thanks for that. Any idea what the reference is - looks like A23100. What might this relate to? I presume the date is 3rd July 1877. But what are the marks before and after the date?

I venture no guess other than the equivalent of "Your letter reference blah blah dated....".  Pretty sure they are administrative references that mean nothing significant.
