Percy Arthur Boyce b q1 1880 Yarmouth, Norfolk residence 1939 Leicester

Have a quandary with above. Found him on 1939 with Florence E Boyce (Bishop) b 21 Apr 1889 who was Bishop and m Boyce 1943. However I thought that she m Percy A Junior b Q3 1909 as there was a Florence E Bishop b 1905. On the same register, there is Percy's other son William B b 05 Sep 1912 and 2 other sons (?) Albert D b 15 Nov 1925 and Derek V b 27 Jan 1927, Coincidentally there were 2 of the same name both b  Q3 1943 as twins.
Percy Arthur Boyce m Elizabeth or Bessie Parmenter Church b 23 Jul 1882 m Q1 1905 and they are together on 1911 with 3 children in Longsight, Chorlton, Lancashire.
Do you think that she divorced or died and Florence E Bishop moved in?
Bessie Boyce appears on 1939 at City Of Norwich Mental Hospital as a patient and married.

Trying to get your post sorted in my head.

It is likely that Florence was living in the property and possibly cooking/cleaning for the men as Bessie was in a mental hospital.  I doubt they were doing it themselves.

To establish which Percy she married in 1943 you really need the marriage certificate

1939 states Percy M and Florence S. Strange that the 2 younger sons' mother's name was Bishop.
Do you think that the 'twins' registration was duplicated in 1943 to make them legitimate?
I can't find any lunacy records for Bessie and wonder if she d there prior to 1943?

Wonder if this is Bessie's death? -

Bessie P Boyce
Death Age   - 85
Birth Date   - abt 1882
Registration Date - Dec 1967
Registration district - Norwich Outer
Inferred County   Norfolk
Vol 4b Page 889

The two boys would need their births to be re-registered once their parents were married.

1939 states Percy M and Florence S.

Thank you  :)

The entry for the births of the other boys gives a reference relating to the 1943 registration entry
Births Dec 1925
Boyce    Albert D    Bishop    Leicester    7a   See _/43
This means the original entry has been amended

From this I would say that Bessie was probably unwell after the birth of William (maybe post natal depression) and was institutionalised.  Florence later moved in to maybe look after William etc.

It would appear that Percy and Florence had a daughter Jessie q4 1923 but died q2 1924, Leicester.

14 December 1907 - Yarmouth Independent - Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Percy Arthur Boyce was summoned by his wife Bessie Parmenter Boyce of 19 Samuel Place for an application under the Married Women Act

Yarmouth Independent 11 January 1908

Percy Arthur Boyce was summoned by his wife Bessie Parmenter Boyce for an application under the Married Women Act. This case was postponed from December with a view to see if the young people's troubles could be satisfactorily settled. The Police Court Missionary had used his influence and there were signs of improvement, the summons was requested to be withdrawn, which was granted.

Eastern Evening News 08 January 1908

Records similar text to the above but goes on to say that Bessie had sought a separation.

Thank you JJen for your superb research. Obviously Bessie had an unsettling time with Percy especially as they kept moving about and all 4 children born in different places. I guess they must have made up before the births of the last 2 children.
