Wheatley / Howsego
« on: Thursday 01 February 18 22:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi all I’ve just discovered my mum had another sister she was born 6 yrs after my mum but this is the first I’ve heard of her.
She was born Removed Howsego b Dec 1936 in Orsett Essex
She was the daughter of Hilda and George Howsego sadly George passed a year after she was born so I don’t know if Hilda kept her or had her adopted maybe this is the reason my mum never mentioned her.
She married a Removed Wheatley in Dec 1954
He was born in sept 1936 in poplar London.
This is all the info I have so far about both,I’d like any help or advise or to find anybody researching the same family.
Thankyou in advance

Do you know if she's still alive? We are not allowed to post information about people who are alive or may be alive on RootsChat. She was born only 81 years ago so unless you have proof of her death you should assume that she is alive. The same goes for her husband.

The first step would be to buy a copy of the birth cert from the GRO.

If she was legally adopted, the certificate would be annotated to show that.

If she married under her birth name, the chances are that she wasn't adopted. However, surely if she was born when your mother was 6, she would have known about her if she stayed in the family? Have you tried looking in the 1939 register to see if she is there?

There's a possible remarriage for her in 1976.

Without certs it's hard to say for certain whether she is your person of interest.

Hi all I’m sorry for my error I truly wasn’t thinking when posting but will be more careful in future.
Thankyou for the replies.
All I have found was a marriage and there births.
My mum never ever mentioned maybe she was placed elsewhere but kept the name.
I will carry on with my search and see what I find.
Thank you all again.

If you look on Freebmd there are two births from her marriage, one in 1956 and one 1959, both male.
