Did they die in the Isle of Man

I have the following two people (brother and sister) living in 1939 (according to the 1939 registers) at 51 Oxton Street, Liverpool:
John W Winstanley born 17 September 1873 single a retired postman and
Eliza M Barnett born 20 February 1879 a widow.

I have been trying to identify where and when they died. The best options I can identify are:
Eliza Mary Barnett Death year 1963 aged 84 therefore born  1879  Residence and  Registration District Douglas, Isle of Man Volume 473 page 3809
John William Winstanley Death year  1947 aged 73 therefore born 1874 Residence and Registration District Douglas, Isle of Man  volume 173 page 2909

I know their parents married in 1867 in Douglas IOM., so speculate that they may have moved to the Isle of Man to get out of Liverpool in WW 2.

Can any body suggest how I can prove my theory is correct?

It looks a good possibility that you have the correct couple. 

Have you looked on the probate index to see if they left wills, or the Liverpool papers for an obituary if that was where they were resident most of their lives.

The death certificates, though if they died in a home/hospital it may not help.

Both are buried in Douglas Borough Cemetery, Glencrutchery Road.
So I'm not sure whether a Parish Record would be available?

If they were living on the Isle of Man, probate would have been there.
There will only be an entry in the UK Probate Calendar if there was some reason to also want probate there? Property, shares, or other assets?

There is no online access to IOM Probate.
Probate records in relation to Grants of Probate issued since 1950 can be viewed at our public counter and by prior arrangement.

Thanks to rosie 99 and KGarrad for your information about tracing family history in the Isle of Man.

I don't believe that the two prople I am interested in were using the Isle of Man as a tax haven. He was no more than a Postman and she was a cook in domestic service!! I know their parents were married in the Isle of Man so would guess they moved to the Isle of Man to escape the  bombing in Liverpool.

It costs £2.50 to look at a will in IoM - that's a lot cheaper than UK, Rosie!
