What it looks like is a painted photo, not that it makes any difference of course.
The 2 soldiers are possibly Seaforth Highlanders.

Agnes, Catherine, Robert and William are still together at Bridgeton in 1861.  URQUHART spelt correctly on SP but indexed as ARGIBANT  :o  on Ancestry.

What was William's occupation when he married?

Thanks for that tip ... I've been on the hunt for clues as to what the uniforms might be I too thought it looked like a painted photograph.

Wow ha ha ha I never would have found that one on ancestry Argibant 😂

I believe once in Australia he was working in Sheep Station creek QLD on a farm when he married in 1878. He ended up in West Australia but I'm unsure how or why.

I also found an 1871 census for a William Urquhart of same age working as a shipwright ... seeing as I've never found how he got here I wondered if it was him and if he he somehow snuck over :-)

I've foind some of his siblings passage but not his.
