Divorce in 1939

There's a minimum of 6 weeks between the decree nisi and absolute.

As a word of caution, I experienced this myself and HMCTS confirmed it, many people got the nisi
but never went back to court to make it absolute so legally they were never divorced and subsequent marriages are bigamous.

There are no records for decrees nisi.

Thanks.  I'm more interested in him than her, and as he never re-married, there are no [possibly] bigamous marriages for me to fret about

I don't even know if it's the correct case as I don't have full access to the newspaper! I can see a bit about  Richard and Dora Noble in The Daily Herald

That's a shame. And a Dora A Noble/Wilson married in Q3 1940 too.
Maybe your folks might also be in those Times lists.
