Thanks for this -it looks a possible.
I have now found a Luke Magrath 1774-1834 of Lakefield, Co Cavan who was High Sheriff of Cavan in 1810. And ....he was an attorney in Chancery, same as William.  A great coincidence that is worth investigating.
Hopefully, the 'Comalane' reference will clarify itself along the way.
