Smiths in Chippenham
« on: Monday 05 February 18 10:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking up the Smith family who lived in Chippenham. I have got stuck in a few places. This is what I have so far -

Kate Elizabeth Smith (1889 - 1976),
Father - Thomas Smith (1858 - 1926), Mother - Caroline Smith (1855 - 1928)

Firstly, were there that many Smiths in Chippenham! :)

Caroline Smiths parents - Robert Smith (1812 - 1892) and Elizabeth Tanner (about 1816), they got married in Bath in 1843. I can't seem to find much on Elizabeth, other than the 1851 Census. Any ideas how I can find out more on her parents?

Kate Smith's dad - Thomas Smith, according to the Census records he lived with his father and grandparents, so what is the best way of finding his mother?

Any ideas or help appreciated. Thanks

To find Elizabeth's father you need to purchase the marriage cert.
With regard to the Smith's can you give the census ref. no. so we know we have the right family.
