When did my grandparent's visit Belgium?
« on: Tuesday 06 February 18 16:33 GMT (UK) »
My grandparents Ronald and Therese Massey lived in Surrey after WW1 and visited the Ypres area at some point in the 1920's. This would I think have been a pilgrimage as Ronald's younger brother Kenneth was killed at Passhendaele on 29th October 1917. Is there any record existing that would date their visit? I have tried passenger lists but with no success.
Massey (London, Woking, Teignmouth), Massie (Banff, Aberdeen - Scotland) Sullivan, O'Sullivan (Kanturk Ireland, London, Woolwich) Mactaggart (Montrose, Angus, Scotland, Singapore), Thornhill (Surrey), Lyall, Walsh, Linehan, Holland, Langton, Armstrong.

Perhaps the Royal Britisb Legion can help you.

I found this on their website:-

"Remembrance Travel has been arranging visits to battlefields, war cemeteries and memorials since 1927. Everyone is welcome to join our tours, whether that be an ex-service veteran, or a family wishing to do more research into their past."

I don't think that there are any passengers list for Channel crossings, so I doubt if there will be any records I'm afraid.
