Hi Christina,
There is a Christian Robertson Christened at Dull, Perthshire on the 8th January 1774 to parents Pat (Patrick ? ) Robertson & Janet McLaurin.

Then another Christian Christened at Dull, Perthshire on the 31st January 1777 to Alexander Robertson & Margaret Deor.
Dull is approx 11 miles from Blair-Athol.  Hope one of these is who your looking for.

Cheers
Geoff

Hi Christina,
Me again, I found a James STEWART born & Baptised at Blair-Athol to Allan STEWART & Elspeth McINTOSH on the 26th July 1761.
The only James I could find with a father named Allan.

Cheers Geoff

Thanks Geoff
I forgot to say they had 2 children Allan and Susan going by name pattern as Allan was James dad I thought Susan would be Christian mum only one Susan McDonald and Duncan robertson so if that was them it makes James 31 and Christian 16. So I’m no way of knowing
Thanks again for your help

James Stewart was the son of Allan Stewart and Elspeth McIntosh who were living in Carrick (Carrig) which is at the top of Glen Fincastle, and looks down Bruar and Invervack.  Carrick is in Blair Atholl parish but the rest of Glen Fincastle is in Dull parish.  This caused confusion in 1841 as both enumerators assumed that the other had taken the census returns for Carrick - hence no data. There are a couple of images of Carrick on the Photo Gallery. If you ever visit make sure that you climb above the ruins and look at the limestone pavement above the settlement.

The next settlement south of Carrick was Uchdabhriedy (according the the OS 1st Ed.) which was in Dull parish. This probably is Uchdbhudan, Dull, from the marriage banns.  It also seems to have been called Newtown (NGR NN 857631). It doesn't seem to have been a settlement for long and was deserted by 1841.  'Glen Fincastle - A Study of a Perthshire Glen', 1967, pub Oliver & Boyd give it brief mention - a presumed house with stone partitions 66' by 12' with two farm buildings in front, each 20' by 12'.  Only grass covered foundations are now visible.

Easter Invervack can refer to what is now called Balnastewart (Balnastuartach) or Glaicneid of Invervack.  As there is no record of Robertsons being born at Glaicneid, we can assume that the former is the one that you are interested in.  The only Robertson connection that we can see is the marriage of John Robertson in Invervack and Ann McIntosh in Perth, 25 June 1796.

Our guess would be that Christian Robertson was his sister and that when she married and moved out, John looked round for a wife very quickly. Interestingly John Robertson's second daughter was named Susan (an unusual name for these parts), so this would be his mother's name if he was following the naming tradition.  His eldest son was named Angus.

That's probably enough to keep you on the right track
