Thank you Sandra

We know after Joseph died in 1906 she remarried a Stirling/Harold Cameron and our family rumour is that Ernest fell out with Elizabeth because Stirling was a drunk and he went off to join the Army. She apparently lost the farm (assuming she was a tenant farmer) after this marriage and we find her again in Derby. Stirling dies in 1926 and she doesn't administer his Will until 1930. We find her again in 1939 back in Ely and she dies here in 1940.

Her 2nd husband seems to use different names in different formats and we have been unable to find anything about him before his marriage to Elizabeth

We know she had contact with other family members, as one of her other Sons registers her death,  so hoping in time we can come across their descendants  and try and get some more details to where she was in the missing years.

Thanks again for all the responses - Tracy

My daughter-in-law has Thomas J Canham b1801 Ely (according to 1851 Census) in her family tree. He married Frances Dearsley in 1825 in Ely.
Children - William bc1829; Ebenezer bc1831; Joseph bc1834; Frances bc 1836; John D bc 1839 (1841 Census ) living in South Street, Cambridge.
There is also a John Canham bc1832 in Cambridge Union Workhouse in 1841.
I wondered if these are connected to your relatives?

Where does Stirling die as I cannot see his death on freebmd?  Cannot see Elizabeth either....

Joseph W Canham is described as an agricultural labourer, and is in court in 1900 for stealing wheat - times were hard.
