Thank you so much Mathew, Ros and Essie, unfortunately not my man but it helps to confirm where he isn't.

I really appreciate your prompt and helpful responses.

Thanks Mathew and Cando,

I am looking for Sarah Ann Sipthorpe (1877) who married James Joseph Devine (1878, son of Michael & Catherine) in 1899 in Melbourne, they had a daughter Elsie in 1900 (I have found Elsie birth, marriage, death, etc). Sarah married using the name Mabel and then disappears until her death in 1965. In the death notice for her father (1932) she is listed as Sarah Guiatt (W.A.), she also places a memorial notice (1930) for her mothers death where she calls herself Sarah Guiatt (W.A.) and her own death certificate (died back in Victoria as a widow, Sarah Ann Devine) shows her dying aged 88, living 58 years in Victoria and 30 years in Western Australia. Daughter Elsie appears to have stayed in Victoria the whole time, JJ Devine disappears also (most of his family can be found moved to Sydney around about 1902). Sarah obviously living with an unknown Guiatt for a period of time in WA and then back in Victoria dies as Devine??? Both Sarah and JJ had some brushes with the law about the time of their marriage.

Any suggestions, help, hints, etc would be very welcome.

Cheers, Jo  :)

Should have waited before jumping in :P

Have a look at the electoral rolls as there is a GUIATT family in WA.  Look on TROVE but I can see no sign of a "Sarah".  There are a few items about the GUIATT family though.
