Arthur Hart Birth record
« on: Tuesday 13 February 18 14:58 GMT (UK) »
I am having trouble locating the Birth record for my GFather - Arthur Hart. I have his Death record, and his Marriage record for 1891. He shows on the Census for 1881,1901,1911. Each Census shows him born in Renfrew circa 1869. His Parents were Arthur Hart -born Ireland and Margaret MacGonnigle.
Doing searches on Scotlandspeople does not show him. He was RC
Can anyone help

1871 Census    4 South Croft, Abbey, Paisley, Renfrewshire
Nettia McGunigall, 50,   ...This is, I think, Letitia McGonnigle
John, 25
Ann, 21
George, 20
Arthur Hart, Grandson.     It doesn't give his age on the Ancestry transcription.    I suspect the original census on Scotlands People may be badly written and difficult to make out.

P.S.    Found him on Scotlands People.    He is aged 3 according to them in 1871.

There is a Catholic record for Paisley, which looks like him - but there is a problem.     The preview of this Catholic birth, on Scotlands People is:

Arthur Hart, born 18 May 1868, and baptised 28 Jun 1868 at Paisley, St Mirrin's.   Parents: Arthur Hart/Margaret McGhee.

So, the problem is....    Margaret McGhee - is she the same person as Margaret McGonnigle?

Wow! This is getting intriguing. A skeleton in the Family cupboard.
Thanks so much everyone. I would be going round in circles looking for the info. Anymore more info would be most welcome.

Frustrating that the page I need on Scotlandspeople although indexed as 1868, is 1864

Doing a search on Scotlandspeople for a marriage from 1860 between Arthur Hart and Margaret MacGhee give no result nor does Arthur Hart and a surname only of Macghee. However, doing  a search using Arthur Hart and a Christian name of Margaret gives 4 results , three of which are my descendants. So could I assume the Margaret MacGhee is a typo error. There is an indexing error in the full Baptismal report for Arthur Hart for the year 1968 in Scotlandspeople which I have reported

Oddly enough, I was so curious that I also opened up the 1868 birth record, probably just around the same time as you did - and I also reported it.      I have asked them if the lower half of the page is missing.      If you look at it again, you will see that much of the lowest part of the page is black.       Whatever the reason for the information at the top of the birth not agreeing with what is below, I think there is a fair chance that they might come up with an image of the true birth.      I hope they do.

P.S.    I wondered if they went to Ireland to be married.
