Sarah Tubby
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 14:22 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Sarah Tubby was born around 1847 .She marries 12 Feb 1868 Henry Warnes
She is 21  when they marry  at St martins at oak Norwich  . Her father is listed as William Tubby a Tailor. Witnesses are a Joseph king and a Ann Teice?--sorry cant make out the name. Struggling to locate the correct William Tubby and would appreciate help. Sorry dont know the name of sarah s mother. Have not been able to identity the correct Sarah and have just spent ages going down the wrong road-- as can happen.

Many thanks

Have you eliminated this Sarah - the only one I can find registered between 1845 and 1848?

hello
No I hadn't--thanks. Of course the 21 on the marriage cert may just mean she was of full age. ?
All the William Tubbys so far have been a Ag Lab,shoemakers, farmers or gardeners but no Tailors.
have done Sarah's husbands family so keen to to able to do the Tubby side .

Yes thats them. I have tree on Ancestry. There are quite a few other trees on Ancestry with them on but they have Sarah's father as a Robert Tubby--but quote the same marriage record.
I have put a copy of the certificate showing Sara's father as William on my tree.
You can see why I am confused.

Hi

This looks like the daughter of Isaac Tubby who married Martha Ecclestone 2 Nov 1830 in Surlingham.
Isaac (a Widower) and Sarah Ann (age 16) are together on the 1861 census in Surlingham.

Witnesses are a Joseph king and a Ann Teice?--sorry can’t make out the name

I think the witness is Ann Joice

Ann Tubby married Samuel Joyce 2 Dec 1859 at Cawston, her father is shown as Robert Tubby.
Robert Tubby married Mary Manning 30 Nov 1824 at Cawston.

They had several children including Ann born bap.1834 and Sarah bap. 1842 both at Cawston.

The 1851 transcript I have shows them as Tuby/Juby, HO/107/1810 fo.194 pg. 14

On the 1871 census Sarah’s (Warnes) place of birth is not very clear on the copy I have,
RG10/1831 fo.127 pg. 6 sch.32, one online transcript has it as Corston, so that might be worth checking.

Was Ann cousin of Sarah or was this her sister and the vicar has put the wrong fathers name on the marriage cert.

Thank you for the new information .Gosh thats a thought. I suppose its possible the Vicar put the wrong name down but what about the occupation ?
All the trees on line have Robert and Mary as the parents .But i am the only one to list Sarah and HenryS marriage cert.
Checking on another site i can only find one marriage for a Henry Warnes and Sarah Tubby and its ours.
on the 1881 Census Sarah Warnes nee Tubby is born abt 1846 Cawston . in 1891 it born abt 1845 and gt Witchingham --but I think the recorder may just have copied her husbands down. In 1901 its back to Cawston and born about 1843.
Feeling i am going round in Circles.
