dn type of dwelling
« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 05:39 GMT (UK) »
Perhaps someone with more knowledge of 19th century English language use may be able to tell me what 'dn' means when referring to a type of dwelling, please? I have found the record for the Thomas Shepperd household in Pitminster on Ancestry and the address is Browns Elm Dn. It is next door to Browns Elm Cottage.

Yes, I think you're right Kay. I shouldn't have fixated on difference! Thanks so much for your fresh eyes.

Thank you, I am so excited to see this! I am useless at finding maps for the period I'm looking at and I really appreciate you taking the time to post this. It really adds a new dimension to the census data - it's fabulous.
