That fits with his profile. So Janey and Louis are children of Betsy?

Janey would appear to be Betsy's daughter but Louis would belong to Minnie. Louis was born c.1905, which is after Betsy's death  :)

Brilliant, this has helped with piecing some of it together, still no idea on Morris however. What an illusive man!

Hello Alex,

Morris Sharkey died on 1 November 1932 and was buried in the Adath Yisroel Jewish Cemetery in Enfield (north London)

A David Sharkey who died on 5 Sep 1965 was also buried in the same cemetery.

Louis Sharkey died on 27 December 1982 and was buried in the Adath Yisroel Cemetery in Cheshunt.

I'm sure Mr. Google will be able to help you find a contact phone number or email address for the burial offices. Either by consulting burial registers or looking at any surviving gravestones, they may be able to tell the full Hebrew names of the deceased. That will be particularly important in Morris's case.

I initially found the records in one of the databases on JewishGen. You can find the same records here
http://www.jgsgb.org.uk/browsable-lists-non-members. Just look in the lists for the two Adath Yisroel cemeteries.

Is it actually your grandfather who was buried in Enfield in 1965?

It is strange that Minnie does not appear to have been buried in Enfield with Morris. Do you know if she re-married after Morris's death?

I have found another document that could prove really important for your research.

Go to this page https://www.theus.org.uk/category/find-marriage-record and enter 'Katcherovitz' in the surname box.

The only record is for the marriage of Morris Shawkey and Minnie Katcherovitz on 13 Sep 1903 in the East London Synagogue.

The marriage authorisation can provide a wealth of information, if it was completed in its entirety.
