Does 4 Angels Row, All Saints, Worcester still exist?
« on: Friday 23 February 18 12:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Death Certificate for  my 2 x Gt Grandfather in law shows his address on death in 1890 as 4 Angels Row, All Saints, Worcester.

Just wondered if someone could tell me if this street still exists please?

Thanks for any info about it.

Hi Rosie99, thanks for the post.

Yes, I had googled that site but although it says that " Angels Row is a street in Worcester", I'm not sure of the date of that entry and I thought that maybe a current resident of that area might be able to tell me if there are still old dwellings in Angel Row. I'm going to try Google maps as well.
I'm just trying to get in idea of what it was like there in the 1890's  - to add a little pen picture to my relatives' life at that time.

Thanks for your interest. :)

Hi Rosie 99,

Just looked on Google street view, found All Saints Row (I think) and the area looks like newish build modern blocks of flats.

I think I may have to try ang google 'old Photos of All Saints Row and see if I can dig anything out that way.

Hi Stan

I was born in Worcester & visit it several times a year - Angel Row was off Angel Place but I don't know if it still exists even though I know that Angel Place does & bear in mind that the Crowngate (a large shopping centre) was built just off Angel Place so Angel Row may have been swallowed up in this development but Im by no means certain of that & will have to consult my detailed maps of Worcester to make sure

All the very best

Phil

ps I wont have access to a computer again till next Saturday so don't think Ive forgotten about you
Worcestershire - Heeks, Maiden, Pinchin, Hartland, Tredwell, Holliday, Morton, Collins, Aldington, Saunders
Oxfordshire - Gomm, Hamblet, Austin, Winter,
Herefordshire - Lowe
Radnor - Lowe, Powell
Gloucestershire - Holliday, Pinchin

might be able to tell me if there are still old dwellings in Angel Row.

The  area has been redeveloped, this birds eye view shows what may be original buildings on the north side of Angel Row https://binged.it/2op2R8R

Hi there Stan,

Thanks very much for the info and Map links which I have looked at - the aerial view in particular quite facinating really but because I don't know Worcester at all I couldn't quite pinpoint Angel's Row area.

I can see how much of the area has been redeveloped over the years though, so it was a faint hope that an old place like Angels Row would have been left untouched by time.

I'm am going to see if there are old postcards online for Worcester which may have a glimpse of old Angels Row on them, also I thought I might be able to contact Worcester library for a lead as well.

Thanks for your help & interest Stan.

Cheers.

Barbara.
