The name Piet in Sligo 1871- 1881
« on: Monday 26 February 18 16:10 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find a Birth in Sligo, I have two brothers born there but can only find the record for one brother.
The record I have is frank Piet baptised 29.06.1877. CLASSIEBAWN Sligo
Birth record 1877    Vol 12.   Page 321 Sligo
He is Also recorded on  various England census as being born in Ireland
His brother who I can’t find is Robert Ephraim Piet born Sligo 1875 or 1876 on various England census.
I have looked through the baptisms for Robert but cannot find him,
Also births with no luck.
Parents for both men are Robert Piet 1823 and Lavinia Piet, nee Rose 1848
They only seemed to be in Ireland for a few years. From 1871.
Any help you could offer would be appreciated
Regards Jenny

Thank you Hallmark
I had a look at what you linked to and came to the same result as yourself.
I have the copy of the Hand written register, thank you

I’m glad it not my lack of searching, I have spent two days looking.

Thank you very much for your reply.

As you see, I only looked to 1876....

You could try     Robert  1877 to 1882, maybe Surname spelled wrong   ;D

Dear Hallmark

I have spent a further 3 hours or more changing to name back and forth on this search with no results.
This is a strange one indeed.

I have put the dates in to cover 1870 - 1880 in Ireland and Britain and “World”searches

I used the following searches for those dates in the Irish registry, Irish baptisms, IGI, Find my past and Ancestry.
Robert Piet
Ephraim Piet
Robert Rose
Ephraim Rose
Robert
Ephraim

I dont think they were in Ireland beyond 1880

This isn't going to help, and will perhaps make things worse, but have you tried searching for daughter Elizabeth's birth in Waterford?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Dear Agadowey

I have his marriage in England and all his children in Surrey. Also his wife and mother in the census living with him in the 1939 register in Surrey.  And his brother in New Zealand. 1907 -1910
I have his parents and grandparents and children etc but his birth is totally elusive.
The man is an enigma,

Thank you for replying it is appreciated.

Not sure if you understood what I meant  :-\  Elizabeth Piet given as born Waterford- have you tried looking for her birth certificate yet?
