1930 census was on the other thread.  This is the 1940 census Detroit, Wayne, Michigan.

Perhaps this is John William Cooper (the son of Harold Cooper and Kathleen McMahon Cooper)
John born 30 April 1942 and passed away 12 December 1983 - Royal Oak, Oakland, Michigan.
Birmingham, Oakland, Michigan.  Believe he may have had 2 sons with wife "L".
