William Foot of Ringwood

William was born in 1875 at Up Cerne and moved to West Street, Ringwood, where he ran a bakers. Married twice. Firstly 1800 to Bessie Hames who died in 1929. I have been told that he then married a Elizabeth Diamond from Cerne Abbas. I believe it was Elizabeth Jane Diment in 1931. Please kindly confirm the mame and any birth, death or other details regarding his 2nd wife.  Very many thanks,  Mark

How can we confirm those details?  You have posted on the Hampshire board but the marriage you mention was in Dorset

Have you checked freebmd for a death for Elizabeth?  Have you checked freebmd for a birth?

Have you found them on the 1939 register which will give her birthdate or age?

Given William’s age it’s possible Elizabeth was also previously married in which case you would need to buy a copy of the marriage cert to check her fathers name and her marital status

Thank you. Very useful. I had a blind spot and hadn't thought that she had already been married. A direct descendant believed her to be Elizabeth Diamond and I guess he was young when told and may have mis-heard . I can't see a mention on her marriage details to William that she was a widow,  but due to her age this would be reasonable to assume.

I'm struggking with both Freebdm and Bridport OPC records to find her ist marriage and baptism info from the OPC records. Interesting there are Hallet's and Diment's in the area. A census return in 1871 shows a Jane Hallet of a similsr age.Perhaps Elizabeth Jane was known by Jane in the family?

Further searches confirm Elizabeth Jane Hallet marrying in Bridport area in 1890 but I can't find a Diment marrying a Hallet. Thsnks for any help.
