Great. Thanks Shaunj. And thanks for the link. I will look tomorrow.

It's funny how some listings contain more or less information than others.

This publican is a Strawbridge from my family tree.

Thanks again for your help and explanation/s.

Would anyone know how I could find out what brewery the pub belonged to? It would be interesting to contact them to see if they have any records.

Thanks

I will let you know how I get on.

Hi, I have had a reply from a site I contacted about any information on the Punch Bowl, and basically there is not a lot of info available.

I'm still looking on the internet to see if I can find any other information.

I was really hoping I may be able to find something, but up to now, nothing.

My next search is to see if there are any pics of old Macclesfield about, maybe there is a pic of the pub or the street the pub was on.

I will let you know how I get on.

I haven't read the whole thread so please forgive me, but have you considered contacting Macclesfield Library to see whether they might have old photographs.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi BumbleB

No I hadn't thought of that, thanks.

Does anyone know if they would email me a pic if any, or would I have to visit the library in person, I live in Worcestershire.

You can only ask the question of the library.  :)

Buxton Road will be in Maccesfield. It runs from Buxton and joins with Waters Green by the train station. There is a gathering of streets including public houses which I am sure the Punch Bowl was one. That area is where the market took place. Most of old Buxton Road has been demolished for new houses.
