Sarah Higgins/Flooks/Bishop possibly Masters of Bradford Abbas
« on: Friday 02 March 18 22:00 GMT (UK) »
I believe I have the basics of Sarah Higgins born abt 1804. Death date unknown to me.
She married James Flooks b ? d? at Bradford Abbas 19.11.1921. They had a child Alfred bapt 18.1.1824.
She then married John Bishop at Bradford Abbas 28.6.1825.
They had a number of children John 1827, Sarah 1827, Edward 1830, Alfred 1826 these dates approx as I'm unclear if correct.
I believe Sarah may have died as John Bishop, widower  married a Susan Masters at Bradford Abbas on the 26.12.1843.

Any confirmation or/and additional info would be most helpful. Many thanks  Mark

Is John Bishop with Sarah in 1841 or on his own? **

** a family tree has Sarah alive and well in 1841 with John - Sarah - Edward

and Alfred Flooks underneath.  He is quite easy to trace onwards - marriage 1847 to Maria

There's a death in Mar 1843 Sherborne for Sarah Bishop

Burial for a James Flooks age 27 in 1824 possible if she remarried in 1825
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Little confusion over father James or John Flooks but this is likely brother and sister in 1851

Sarah Bragg 22

John J Bragg 4
Edward G Bragg 2
Arthur F Bragg 2 months
Edward Bishop 19 brother
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Very many thanks. The death of James would fit well. I would have thought that James would have been buried in Bradford Abbas, if he is the James.  Sarah's death also fits but I wonder if it would be rather quick for widower John to re-marry? My gut feeling is that both are correct. Thanks again, Mark

They married fast in them days Mark especially if there were little ones to be looked after.

Checking the 1843 death for Sarah on the GRO index gives an age of 59 so maybe not her after all  :-\

If you're interested in Alfred Flooks he's in prison in 1843 "misbehaviour in service"  3 weeks hard labour.  Death in 1880.

Back to Sarah Bishop in Dorset burial register 26 Mar 1843 Bradford Abbas age 40 so that fits perfectly.
