Agree post WW1 & I would suggest late teens to early 20's.
You'll notice his trousers are narrow cut & finish at the ankle. This was a trend from the 1910's.
He looks in his 20's.

But these dates don't fit with an 1886 birth.  That's what I've been puzzling about   :-\

I've never gone down the road of dating a photo based on the age of the assumed person in it.

I think you suggested it in your previous post.  Think it's important in this case as the OP says he was born in 1886 and you're saying he's in his 20s and photo is post WW1

Added - I think he's one of those people who looks younger than he is (like me!! ) and he's most likely about 32-34 (1918-20)

Hi I'm just starting off with my Mother's side of the family.
Mum born Ripon 1939 was a Handshaw but her Mum was Wass from over Thirsk way I think.
Never traced family before so don't really know where to start. I do know a few family relatives with the Wass name and some great aunties that were born a Wass.
Also found these
