West Buckland place name decipher appeal

I am trying to decipher the baptism entry at West Buckland on 9 May 1666 of Thomas Milton, son of Richard Milton of ........

I think the last part of the word could be hampton but I can't find a place near West Buckland with hampton at the end of it.

Maybe someone familiar with that part of Devon could interpret it for me please.

Look at the baptism at the top of the same page. Looks like the same place to me

Chittlehampton,  4 and a half miles from West Buckland

Many thanks Claire, I can see if I put my eyes into a stare that it most probably is Chittlehampton.  But Google maps tell me that Chittlehampton is 37 miles west of West Buckland.  Is there another one closer?

Hi

I used the AA route planner to calculate how far West Buckland was from Chittlehampton and have just checked Wikipedia too

I'm not sure of another one being any closer, I maybe wrong.

ADDED: I think google maps is calculating the distance of Chittlehampton in Somerset as opposed to the one in Devon
