Help with identifying this uniform in Perth ~late 1890s -1902
« on: Monday 05 March 18 16:26 GMT (UK) »
Not sure where else to post this but I have this old photo of my Gr. Grandmother wearing some kind of uniform/vest and I'm trying to find out what kind of organization this is.  The only identifying mark on the back says "87 High St. Perth"  but I'm assuming that is probably the photographer's address.  Given that she looks to be in her late teens or early 20s I am guessing this was taken sometime between 1896-1902. In the 1901 census she is living at 10 Ballantine Place, Perth and her occuptation is Weaver.
Hoping someone might recognize the emblems on the vests.
Thanks

I have no idea what the organisation is that they represent, but the letters on the side of the left breast is different on most of them.
The most common one is B.C.T. and then there is also B.C.M.on the males.
The Chap in the middle of the front row (black beard) appears to be the head of the Society or Team, and his badge has J.D. over C.C.T.
On the ladies there is only two I can read, one is B.C.M. and the other is D.B.J.T.
What any of this means, as I have said I have no idea, but it might give a local in Perthshire a hint of something to follow up on.

Cheers
Geoff

Could be the Independent Order of  Good Templars.

Thank you for your help! I think you are correct. It must be the Good Templars.
