Lysath, Lycett, Lyceth and so on
« on: Wednesday 07 March 18 15:44 GMT (UK) »
If you are looking to kill some time with a bit of a challenging search read on
I’m just working on some side branches to my tree.
I came to this family via Bridget Donnelly; she is my great grandmother’s sister.
Bridget married Michael Lysath in Dublin in 1882
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1882/10968/8009014.pdf
They live from then on in Ros(e)berry Kildare and there the problem starts as there is so many variations on the name.
1901 Census as Licied

1911 Census as Lyceth
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kildare/Morristownbiller/Rosberry/568137/

Finding the children was fun as Bridget was dead before 1911 so I didn’t have that handy children born/living, but I think I have them all.

Elizabeth Lycett 1882
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1882/02784/2022058.pdf
Patrick Lycett transcribed as Lyceit
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1884/02681/1987924.pdf
Catherine Lyceth 1886
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1886/02594/1958228.pdf
Edward Lyceth 1889
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02486/1922840.pdf
William Lyceth 1891. Died 18 Jan 1898.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1891/02390/1891748.pdf
Julia Lyceth 1893
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1893/02316/1868138.pdf

Mother Bridget Liced died 1893
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1893/05995/4705625.pdf

I could leave it there but I’d like to know if the children got married, moved away or if deaths could be found but I’m just head melted from all the variations in the name at the moment.
If anyone fancies having a look for any of them, I’d be delighted.

Just to add to the confusion William, Michael’s brother I believe, lives in the same townland. Catherine, Michael’s daughter is staying with them in 1901.

I'd be inclined to think witnesses were siblings.. if so, they used different spellings,  grrrr!   ;D

Lovely, thank you.
Hard to tell with the witnesses Patrick and Elizabeth as she has siblings and cousins of those names.

No.

Think I found another marriage.
Elizabeth married Thomas Keogh as Elizabeth Licied

...and his sister married one of the other Licieds!!  2 entries above....
