This is my 2nd great aunt (born 1841 & died 1903). As you can see this image was taken in Towanda, Pennsylvania & I know that she emigrated to America in 1883. Is it possible to narrow down the date when this image was taken? - unfortunately I do not have the back.

Also if the quality of the image allows can I ask for some colouring please. If not then just a clean-up would great.

Keith

I've had a detailed look at it, Keith, and it's very like the first scan that you put up of Steve with her favourite doll - very pixellated and sharpened during the scan so there is a kind of yukkie banding. I'll have a go late this evening and I'm sure the others will as well.

Oh dear Gadget - I am a novice when it comes to image quality. Am I doing anything wrong when I scan the image at 300 dpi? Can you give me any guidelines to what you need to ideally work with?

We really like 300-600 dpi with no compression and no sharpening, etc., although it can be difficult because of the size limitation of 500kb.

If you have probs with the size, you can send to me, as before, or any of the others and we can put it up for you, or you could use drop box.

I'm sure we'll have a go with this one, if you have probs.

The dropbox and the 2 e-mailed ones are much better, Keith. :D

I'll get on with one of them after dinner  :)

That's good news - never used Dropbox before so I sent by email as well just in case.  ::)
Now I'm wondering if some of my other dodgy images that people have struggled with before could be improved  :-\
